The New Raw

The New Raw is a Rotterdam-based research and design studio founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki. With a mission to redefine waste as a resource, the studio combines design, robotics, and craftsmanship to create functional and sustainable products from recycled plastic.

Pioneering robotic 3D printing, The New Raw has developed innovative techniques that highlight the unique textures and forms of recycled materials, celebrating their raw, layered beauty. By focusing on circular design, their zero-waste process transforms plastic waste into furniture, urban installations, and everyday objects that are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

The New Raw has collaborated with global clients such as Nike, The Coca-Cola Company, Unilever, Adidas, IBM, and the Municipality of Amsterdam, creating impactful designs that merge sustainability with innovation. Their work has received prestigious awards, including the Dezeen Design Award, Rossana Orlandi Plastic Prize, and Fast Company Award, and has been featured in leading publications like Wired, Elle Decoration, AD Germany, Frame, and DAMN.

By blending cutting-edge technology with thoughtful craftsmanship, they are paving the way for a circular, sustainable future in design.
